Rare Birds

For Middle Level

Materials: Note cards

How To Play: Leader distributes a note card to each player. On the cards, players write their names and an answer to a question the leader poses. Collect the cards and read them to the class one by one. Players write or verbalize who they think is the "rare bird," the person who gave the most surprising answer.

EXAMPLES
Possible topics for questions could include:

  • 3 things you like to do after school
  • 3 favorite songs
  • 3 favorite foods
  • 3 characters you admire in a particular novel, drama, short story or film

Plan for Success: While planning the activity with players, include a review of what constitutes a surprising and appropriate answer.

Variations: At the end, the group gets to ask the rare bird a few questions about what s/he wrote down.
